DVDStyler on Windows 10
DVDStyler runs on Windows 10 in both its stable builds: the 64-bit installer for modern PCs and the 32-bit installer that keeps older Windows 10 machines useful. Version 3.2.1 (released November 2, 2021) is the release to install. This guide helps you pick the right build, install it, and handle the SmartScreen prompt. Downloads are collected on our Windows download page and the main download page.
64-bit or 32-bit? Picking the right Windows 10 build
- 64-bit build —
DVDStyler-3.2.1-win64.exe, 34,808,333 bytes, MD527d5327d52afdc7ca3b8875c3f3bbced. Right for the large majority of Windows 10 PCs. - 32-bit build —
DVDStyler-3.2.1-win32.exe, 33,124,710 bytes, MD507b72e53a511a7e7c3e2b0a1ad93b51f. For genuinely old 32-bit hardware that cannot run 64-bit Windows.
Not sure which Windows you have? Open Settings → System → About and check “System type”. If it says 64-bit operating system, use the win64 build — it is the better-maintained line, and it is also the only line the newer 3.3 Beta continues.
How to install on Windows 10
- Download the installer for your system type using the buttons above; the files come from the official DVDStyler files on SourceForge.
- Optional but recommended: verify the MD5 checksum against the values above so you know the file is complete and untampered.
- Run the installer and follow the setup steps. No account, key or activation is involved.
- If SmartScreen appears, read the next section before deciding what to do.
- Start DVDStyler from the Start menu and create your first project.
SmartScreen on Windows 10
Windows 10 may warn that it “protected your PC” when you run the installer. That prompt appears for many small open-source programs and is not proof of a problem. The safe routine: only proceed if the file came from the official SourceForge channel linked here and its checksum matches the published value. Then click More info → Run anyway. If the checksum does not match, delete the file and download it again. Our Is DVDStyler safe? page explains why the checksum matters, including the project’s 2.8-era history.
Notes for older Windows 10 machines
- The 32-bit build exists precisely for older PCs, but authoring is still conversion work: transcoding long videos on an old CPU takes time, whatever build you use.
- Files that are already DVD-compliant (MPEG/VOB) can be authored without re-encoding, which is the fastest path on slow hardware.
- An old laptop without a working DVD drive can still author projects and output an ISO image to burn elsewhere.
- DVDStyler authors DVD-Video only; it does not create Blu-ray discs.
Moving to Windows 11 later?
Nothing changes. The same installers, projects and workflow carry over — our Windows 11 guide covers the newer system, and the stable vs Beta comparison explains why 3.2.1 remains the recommended choice on both.
