DVDStyler 3.2.1 vs 3.3b4: Stable or Beta?
DVDStyler has two current downloads and they confuse almost everyone, partly because SourceForge’s default download button points at the Beta. The stable release is 3.2.1; the newer 3.3b4 is a development build that must be labeled — and treated — as a Beta. This guide puts them side by side so you can choose deliberately instead of by download-button accident. Both are linked from the main download page.

How the 3.3 line got here
The Beta line did not arrive all at once: 3.3b1 and 3.3b2 were 32-bit Windows builds only; 3.3b3 widened to 64-bit Windows and even shipped a Mac DMG; 3.3b4 then narrowed again to Windows 64-bit plus source. That pattern — platforms appearing and disappearing between builds — is exactly what “development line” means in practice, and why the word Beta on this page is not decoration. The full timeline is on our version history page.
So which should you install?
- Most people: 3.2.1. It is the project’s stable release, it covers every platform including 32-bit Windows and Mac, its files carry published checksums, and DVD authoring does not reward living on the edge.
- Testers and the curious: 3.3b4, knowingly. If you want to see where development is heading and can accept unfinished behaviour — and you are on 64-bit Windows — the Beta is there. Keep 3.2.1 installed alongside it for anything that matters.
- Mac users: there is no choice to make. 3.3b4 has no Mac build, so the Mac answer is 3.2.1 regardless — see our Mac guide for its Intel/Rosetta reality.
- 32-bit Windows users: also 3.2.1. The current Beta dropped the 32-bit build; the stable win32 installer is your version, as covered in the Windows 10 guide.
About that SourceForge default download
If you landed on SourceForge directly, its prominent download button currently serves the 3.3b4 Beta win64 file. That is the platform’s default-release mechanics, not the project declaring the Beta stable. Knowing the MD5 values in the table above lets you confirm exactly which file you ended up with, whichever route you took.
Still deciding by platform instead? Start from the Windows download page or the Mac download page, where the stable build is the headline and the Beta is kept in its own labeled section.
